Popped in for some lunch, and as usual we were not disappointed. Wife had the fish cakes, which were apparently delightful with plenty of chunky fish pieces; whilst i had the special of mediterranean quiche, which contained loads of feta, olives and peppers - lovely with a few chunky chips and a small side salad. Service was, as usual, attentive and quick. A nice touch was the waitress coming up to apologise for the slight delay in my pint of Tribute, and offering a different beer because they had to change the barrel.
Fantastic service, fantastic food, fantastic beer and a fantastic atmosphere. Fantastic market.Fantastic to visit for a walk around the farm and when able to pick your own fantastic produce.
Restaurant is always busy at lumchtime, despite this we've never had to wait long for our food. Portions are quite large and food is good. The minority is locally sourced. The highlight is always pudding, thier sweets counter full of homemade treats is worth the trip alone.Shop is always well stocked but I do feel it's always pricier than other local farm shops.
We went on Sunday in early January. On that day the menu was more limited than on other days and closing time was 20:00. No matter, because both the airy surroundings and the fresh-cooked roasts were unequivocally first-class. Crunchy fresh veg. Perfectly finished roast potatoes. Homemade mint sauce. An incredible selection of desserts that you go and choose. They don't skimp on portions here. Wine is reasonably priced too. Big car park.
First off. Most of the staff, didn't seem to have Any personality or pride in their work. When greeted, was met with a blank face and stale tone of voice.I had the 24, 4 course meal. For starters I had pork lop ribs, which were cold, tasteless and somehow watered down. The presentation had no care whatsoever. Which were sent back. Although the replacements were hot, they still had the same problems as the first batch. For the mains: I had a beef roast. Which had, the beef, gravy, potatoes, sprouts, Carrots, Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower. The Yorkshire pudding was stone cold which was huge taking over the entire plate. The meat was hardly warm. Same with the gravy. The Carrots and cauliflower were cold, but the potatoes were boiling hot? It was just a mixture of different temperatures on my plate.I didn't bother eating the desert because I began to feel rather a bit ill in the stomach at this point. I had my rocky road slice wrapped to take home. The Coffee wasn't bad. At least they can get that right. I also asked 2 times for a glass of water. At this point there wasn't many people left in the restaurant. Which was never brought to my table. Overall, with the people I was with, the total came to 120.I just feel very disappointed with the overall standard/quality of the food and staff tonight. For the price. Currently while writing this, I have an upset stomach and have a disappointment family. I will never be going here again. And I advice others to find someplace else to go if wanting take people somewhere to eat.
